Famous American Project

 

 

WHO:  You will choose a famous American in history to research and report on.  After this person has been approved, you are ready to begin your research.

 

WHAT: 

STEP 1:

You are now ready to find out as much as you can about this person.  You may use your textbook, the library, the internet, and any other resource(s) you can think of.  You should include the following information in your report:

 

           

Why is this person important to our American history?

 

            What important details about this person’s life should we know?

 

            What accomplishments is this person known for?

 

            Are there any famous quotes from this person?

 

            How does the life of this person affect our lives today?

 

            You can include anything else you think your classmates would find interesting or 

             should know about this person.

 

STEP 2:

After your research is completed you should create a written paper using Microsoft Word.  This paper should include all of the items listed above

 

STEP 3 (OPTIONAL FOR EXTRA POINTS)

You will create a Power Point presentation of this person’s life.  It must be a minimum of five slides.  The slides should include but are not limited to the following:

 

            Name of person

 

            Highlights of person’s life

 

            Accomplishments of person

 

           

Timeline of person’s life

 

Picture of person

 

 

STEP 4:

You will dress up like your person and present to the class the information you found out.

 

 

WHEN:

 

Your person needs to be decided and approved by April 24th

The complete project will be due on MAY 15th.

 

                              Future Career Project

 

 

 

WHO:  You will choose the career you will enter, when you become  an adult. 

 

WHAT: 

STEP 1:

You are now ready to find out as much as you can about your future career.  You may use your books, the library, the internet, and any other resource(s) you can think of.  You should include the following information in your report:

 

Why are you going into this career field?

 

Give a full detail as to what the job or career consist of?

 

What will a day in your career field look and be like?

 

            What type of education will you need to go into this career or job field?

 

            Where are you going to obtain your education?  How long will it take?

           

            What year do you think you will enter and begin this career?

 

            How much money will you make in this career?

 

            Are there any famous people in this career that you look up to and admire?

 

            What will be the greatest challenges and rewarding parts of the career?

 

            You can include anything else you think your classmates would find interesting or 

             should know about this career.

 

STEP 2:

Book Report

 

There is no assigned or required length.  Just solid answers to the questions provided. Students can choose any book they like, however I will need to approve the book because it needs to be on their level.  The book reports count as 1/4 of their grade each 9 weeks. Please sign the back of this page after you have read over and I will return the page for the student to use throughout their report.  The first book report is due October 12th.  The Monday after fall break! 

Cover

-Create a cover for the book report including the title of the book, the author’s name, and your name.

-Create the cover based on an image that comes to mind when you think about the book.

In addition to the cover, provide answers to the following questions:

1. What did the title have to do with the book?

2. Is the title a good one or a poor one and why?

3.What was the author's purpose or purposes in writing this book?

4. Who do you think the author intended to read this book and why?

5. List the characters and describe them

6. Tell five ways the main character is like you

7. Which character in the book would you choose for a friend? Why?

8.  Where did the story take place?

9. Tell in your own words how the setting of the story made it more interesting.

10.  What is the time period in which the book happens?

11.List the five major events in the story in the correct order.

12. Identify one problem in the book and give an alternate solution one not given by the author.

13.  Tell about the most exciting part of the book. Being sure to give at least three reasons why

14. List five new words you learned in the book. Write down their dictionary pronunciation and meaning.

15. Did you like the way the story ended? Why or why not

16. What lesson did you learn from the story?
